What to Expect During Your Move

Choose Your Moving Plan

Before engaging our services, the first step is to provide you with an accurate quotation. We will be happy to visit your home or office to review all of the items you want to move. Alternatively, we can provide this service over the telephone as well. Our customer service personnel will guide you through all of the steps for your move and review any of the costs so you understand what you are paying for because we will not surprise you with extra charges that magically appear on the final bill. At this point, you will select a customized moving plan that fits your needs: VIP Services, partial packing, custom crating, etc.

Moving in 6 Easy Steps!

1 - Inventory

Upon arrival, out team will identify and verify all of the items that you would like us to move. We will then prepare a written inventory listing where we assign an inventory number to every item in addition to accessing the condition of all items on the inventory list. You should agree with each assessment and check to ensure that all items are listed and correct. The purpose of this inventory list is to ensure that everything arrives at your destination in the same condition before the move. Additionally, any claims for damages cannot be made on items with preexisting damage. We will confirm with you that you agree with everything before signing off on the inventory list.

2 - Wrap And Load

Now get out of the way! You hired movers so you didn’t have to do all this work, right? So relax and let the movers do all the lifting and straining. Sky Van Line has a precise and time-tested technique for loading your furniture and other items. Every piece of furniture will be wrapped with protective padding and taken from the residence to the truck. Our movers will load the truck from floor to roof in a manner similar to placing pieces in a puzzle.

3 - Bill Of Lading

Once everything is loaded and ready to go, a team member will present you with a bill of lading. This is a legal document for interstate transport that documents the conditions of your move, transportation, your estimated cost and expected delivery dates. Make sure you’re satisfied with everything on this sheet before signing as you are releasing the goods.

4 - Delivery Date

Our dispatch center will notify you with the estimated arrival date unless you have made other arrangements for storage or specific delivery requests. Our driver will contact you 24-48 hours prior to delivery and confirm the estimated time of arrival.

5 - Delivery & Unloading

When you get to your new home, if possible, it’s best to have two people to help coordinate the unloading of your items. One person can check off the inventory as it is unloaded and inspect the condition of each item. The other individual can assist the movers with questions and direct them where to place your boxes and furniture.

6 - Complete Paperwork

Once the move-in is complete, you’ll be asked to sign off on the bill of lading and moving inventory. But don’t worry; we understand how hectic moving day can be. If you discover later that something may have been damaged during the move, you can still contact our customer service department and make a claim. You don’t need to catch it before our team leaves your home.
